What is a natural pool?
If you are looking for a sustainable and healthy alternative for your swimming pool, natural pools are the answer you are looking for. A natural pool allows you to enjoy the properties of water without the need to use chemical products, saving time, water and energy in maintenance.
Unlike conventional pools, which use chemical products like chlorine, natural pools are much more skin and hair-friendly, avoiding irritations and health problems associated with them. Additionally, not using chemical products means no worries about natural resources depletion.
Natural pools work thanks to a biological filter that enhances water purification and stimulates the natural nitrogen cycle, just like in nature. In this type of pool, plants are responsible for cleaning, so there is no need for chemical products to keep the water clean.
The result is crystal clear water, similar to that of a river or natural lagoon, which can be enjoyed without worrying about irritations or unpleasant tastes. What are the advantages of natural pools?
- The feeling of swimming in nature. Diving into a natural pool can only be compared to bathing in a river.
- Cleaning occurs naturally, although depending on the project, we incorporate filters and other systems for bottom cleaning.
- Little to no maintenance.
- No chemical products that cause allergies and alter the skin and eyes.
- They can allow the incorporation of fish and amphibians. Our system makes it possible to incorporate some species of freshwater shrimp or fish that collaborate in the cleaning process.
- Landscape integration with the garden.
- No need to change the water.
What maintenance will my pool need once it’s naturalized?
If you are looking for a pool with easy and reduced maintenance, an excellent option is natural swimming pools. These pools require very little maintenance, as they only need an annual pruning of the plants and regular aesthetic maintenance to remove leaves and keep the water clean and clear.
It is important to perform this maintenance to prevent plant leaves from dying and generating an excess of nitrogen in the water. If proper maintenance is not carried out, this excess of nitrogen can feed more plants, which can lead to the appearance of harmful algae and bacteria.
With a natural pool, you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing aquatic environment, without having to worry about complicated or expensive maintenance. Discover the advantages of having a natural swimming pool in your home!
If you are transforming an already-built pool, is it necessary to drill it?
No, it’s not necessary.
Among our options, SingularBlue allows for the installation of a biological filter and vegetation on the existing pool floor.
The existing pump and installation are not connected to the SingularBlue system, although they can be used independently to clean the bottom and surface of leaves and insects for 15 minutes per day.
Will it attract insects and bugs?
The insects and small fauna that are created in a natural pool help the plants and gravel in the bio-purification and cleaning of the system.
This doesn’t mean that it will be filled with mosquitoes or that there won’t be any. As an ecosystem, there will be a balance between mosquitoes and their predators.
If you want to learn more about the type of fauna that natural pools attract, take a look.
How does the SingularBlue system fit my particular case?
Once you have decided, the first thing we will ask is for you to send us a bottle of water extracted from the same place where you will fill the pool.
What is a biological filter and what types are there?
by providing oxygen.
This process of ammonia oxidation is carried out by a series of beneficial bacteria that live in the biological filter: “Nitrosomonas” and “Nitrobacter”.
Nitrate is already assimilable by plants that absorb it and eliminate it from the system so that it is not available for the proliferation of algae.
I am a professional pool installer, do you sell the kit for professionals?
Yes, if you are a professional and want to install our system, contact us and we will inform you of the steps to become an official supplier of our SingularBlue System.
Could the pool be filled with water from a well?
It could be, but the well water must be analyzed first.
If its quality is adequate, it is possible to use it, if not, other sources of water will be sought or pre-treatment will be carried out to remove excess phosphates.
Is water analysis included in the price of the biological filter?
Yes, it is included.
For this, we need to analyze the water that comes from the same source from which the pool will be filled, and we do the analysis for free.
You just have to send us the water in a bottle.
With the analysis data and knowing the dimensions of the pool, we can size the biological filter.
Where can I learn more about the biological filtration system?
If you want to learn more about natural pools, how they work, and why they use their filtration system (not just our system), we offer an online course on natural pools through our parent company SingularGreen.
You can access the course through this link (currently only available in Spanish), and if you have any questions, you can also write to us at cursos@singulargreen.com.
How is the selection of species for the SingularBlue system carried out?
When selecting the species for your naturalized pool, we will have to take into account several factors:
- The climate of the area,
- The flowering times,
- The evolution of foliage throughout the year,
- Type of fauna that we are going to introduce…
Remember that, regardless of the plant species we introduce, we must bear in mind that their function is to grow and remove organic matter from the pool.
For this reason, fast-growing and invasive species work better because their growth is achieved thanks to the absorption of nitrogen.
